Sunny Valley, OR – On November 11th at 11 a.m., the annual “Veterans Day on the Covered Bridge” event will take place under the historic Grave Creek Covered Bridge. Since 2018, this gathering has honored veterans while uniting the community in an extraordinary setting with the support of the Covered Bridge Society of Oregon, Josephine County Public Works, and the Four Way Foundation.
Air Force Veteran Frank Matz is the keynote speaker, sharing insights from his military experiences and reminding attendees of the day’s deeper meaning. The Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard will lend a hand with the ceremonial gravitas at the event, and the audience will be treated to a thrilling F15 Fighter Wing flyover, a visual and audible tribute to those who have served.
In a moving presentation, Logos Public Charter School students from grades 7 through 12 will showcase original poetry, expressing gratitude for veterans and reflecting on themes of courage and sacrifice. The creativity and depth in their work adds a personal, youth-driven element to the proceedings.
Attendees can enjoy a complimentary hot lunch, a gesture of community warmth and solidarity. The event was designed to bring together veterans, families, and locals, providing a welcoming space to reflect on service and sacrifice.
