Dear Josephine County Residents,
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the overwhelming support I received in the 2024 Primary election. With your help, we nearly reached the 50.1% threshold required to avoid a runoff in November. As of now, I have secured 45.46% of the votes, with mail-in ballots still being counted and certification expected in the coming weeks.
In the event that I do not meet the 50.1% mark, I will participate in a runoff election against the second-place candidate, Colene Martin, who currently holds 23.73% of the votes. This means that we will resume our campaign in September to earn your vote and secure the Commissioner Position in November. This election is particularly significant as it coincides with a presidential election, which historically attracts a higher voter turnout.
While voter turnout was satisfactory for a primary election, we believe there is always room for improvement. Nevertheless, our campaign is extremely pleased with the primary results, and we remain committed to serving the citizens of Josephine County and demonstrating my unwavering dedication to our community.
Recently, I had the honor of participating in the Boatnik Parade, the second largest event in Oregon. Additionally, I actively support the Grants Pass Active Club, the county’s largest fundraiser for children’s activities. I am passionate about supporting this organization as the funds raised directly benefit our local youth programs. I encourage everyone to support Boatnik and its mission.
Furthermore, I will be assisting in the Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony on Monday to commemorate this solemn occasion. A flyover will take place at 11:45 AM over the Caveman Bridge.
It has been an incredible month, and I am excited about the prospect of serving you as one of your next Commissioners in 2024. I urge you to exercise your right to vote and support Chris Barnett for County Commissioner.
Thank you once again for your tremendous support.
Sincerely,
Chris Barnett
