Say Cheese Stop #20: Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill
My latest stop on the Say Cheese tour brought me to Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill at 820 NE E Street in Grants Pass, and this one came with a little kick.
Joe’s puts its spin on the classic grilled cheese with a sandwich that tastes exactly like one of everyone’s favorite bar appetizers, a jalapeño popper. And honestly, they nailed it.
The Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese starts with cheese-crusted sourdough that gets perfectly crisp on the grill. Inside, you’ll find sliced jalapeños, creamy cream cheese, melted pepper jack, and bacon. The combination hits that sweet spot between rich, cheesy comfort food and just the right amount of heat.
What stood out most was the balance. The jalapeños bring the spice, the cream cheese smooths everything out, and the bacon adds that salty bite that ties it all together. Every bite really does taste like a jalapeño popper, just in grilled cheese form.
Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill has always been known as a solid neighborhood hangout, but this sandwich proves they’re not afraid to get creative in the kitchen.
If you’re making your rounds during Say Cheese Month, this one is absolutely worth putting on your list. It’s crispy, cheesy, a little spicy, and exactly the kind of comfort food you want when you sit down with friends to watch a game or grab a casual bite.
Sometimes the best ideas are the simple ones, take something people already love and turn it into a grilled cheese. Joe’s did exactly that, and the result is fire.
