Josephine County has been bustling with activity lately, starting with the highly successful Boatnik 2024 over Memorial Day weekend. As the county’s largest fundraiser, Boatnik once again proved its importance, with all proceeds staying local to benefit our community. A special thanks to the Grants Pass Active Club, whose dedicated volunteers make this event possible. This year’s attendance was exceptional, and we extend our gratitude to everyone who participated.
In other exciting news, last week I had the pleasure of accompanying my daughter Ava to the Air Force Academy for their Summer Seminar. This four-day event offers prospective applicants an immersive experience into Academy life and military customs. I couldn’t be prouder of Ava as she considers following in my footsteps by serving in the United States Air Force, a career that has profoundly shaped my life.
Today marked another fantastic event with Airport Day at the Grants Pass Josephine County Airport, which was free to the public and drew a significant crowd. The USAF Civil Air Patrol was on hand to provide parking, security, and safety services, and I was honored to assist. The event featured a diverse array of airplanes on display, from civilian and military to experimental models. Additionally, there were emergency service displays, food vendors, clubs, and a captivating wings and wheels car show. The extended runway at our airport is a testament to its growth and value to Josephine County.
Lastly, a heartfelt shoutout to all the dads out there. Happy Father’s Day! May you have a fantastic weekend filled with relaxation and joy. Thank you for all that you do to be the best dads ever.
