MEDFORD, Oregon – January 30, 2024 – After nearly five years of dedicated effort, Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the imminent opening of its new 323,600-square-foot pavilion in February. This unveiling is a pivotal component of Asante’s ambitious 10-year growth and development plan, supported by the AsanteForward campaign—a monumental philanthropic initiative involving nearly 8,000 community contributors, marking the largest such endeavor in the region.
“This new addition stands as a significant milestone in Asante’s history. Beyond being a mere structure, it is a testament to the unwavering support of our community for Asante and our commitment to our patients,” stated Win Howard, CEO of Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. “With augmented capacity, cutting-edge facilities, and the latest technology, we are better equipped to serve the 600,000 residents across the nine counties of Southern Oregon and Northern California.”
The pavilion, seamlessly connected to the existing patient tower at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, enhances current service lines through state-of-the-art facilities. Key highlights include:
- 20 modern operating suites, three of which are equipped with robotic surgery systems, each dedicated to specialties like trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, orthopedic, and urology.
- A new Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit featuring 24 beds, nearly double in size, with room for future expansion.
- An expanded 24-bed Intensive Care Unit and 16-bed Intermediate Care Unit, adaptable for isolation in response to pandemic lessons.
- The Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital, occupying the top two floors, offering consolidated pediatric and perinatal services.
Named in recognition of the Olsrud family’s transformative $12 million gift—the largest in Asante’s history—the Women’s and Children’s Hospital encompasses specialized areas such as:
- A Pediatrics Unit with 16 private rooms
- Pediatric Outpatient Infusion Clinic
- The region’s only Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit
- Binette Family Birth Center with seven labor and delivery rooms
- Family Newborn Unit with 20 recovery rooms
- OB Emergency Department
- Support programs like Child Life and PATS
The new main entrance (Entrance A) of Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center will be conveniently located on the west-facing side of the pavilion, offering an expansive drop-off point adjacent to a new four-story parking structure (P1), all provided complimentary for patients and families. Entrance A will be staffed by trained personnel to assist visitors from their cars and guide them to their intended destinations.
In January, a celebration within the pavilion brought together hundreds of employees, donors, and community members to tour the space and commemorate this historic moment.
Andrea Reeder, Senior Vice President, and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Asante expressed gratitude: “It’s remarkable to see the vision of community leaders from the 1950s endure. This transformational project owes its success to the thousands of donors contributing to our non-profit, community-owned health system. Community participation at every level has been crucial.”
Construction of the pavilion, which commenced in October 2020, incurred a total cost of $455 million, supported by a combination of philanthropy, bonds, and capital funds. While construction is now complete, the opportunity to support these critical services and programs in our community persists.
