Starting March 11, 2024, Reinhart Volunteer Park’s expansive play area, which includes the Key shelter, is set to undergo a transformative phase. This entails the temporary closure and fencing of the premises for the removal of the existing playground and the installation of state-of-the-art equipment. Weather permitting, the construction is anticipated to conclude by the end of April.
Funding for this ambitious project has been secured through a combination of Tourism Lodging Tax revenue and a generous grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Land Water and Conservation Fund.
Reinhart Volunteer Park stands as the premier park destination within the city, and the imminent replacement of its three-decades-old play structure has generated significant anticipation. The city is enthusiastic about introducing a cutting-edge two-structure system, meticulously selected based on community preferences outlined in a prior survey.
The upcoming enhancements will feature distinct play structures catering to different age groups: one for children aged 5-12 years (Big Kids) and another for the younger age bracket of 2-5 years (Tot Lot). Notably, the city has collaborated with the State to secure additional grant funding, enabling the utilization of rubber tiles for the entire playground surfacing. This environmentally conscious choice aligns with the city’s commitment to providing a safe and modern recreational space for its residents and visitors alike.
