The Josephine County Republican Women issued a formal statement this week to reinforce their longstanding position of neutrality amid heightened internal conflict within the Josephine County Republican Central Committee. The organization emphasized that it does not participate in disputes over party leadership or internal Central Committee operations, regardless of recent public debate and online commentary.
The clarification was issued in response to growing concern among local Republicans about factional divides that have widened throughout the year. According to the organization, any involvement that appears political on the part of individual members should not be interpreted as representing the Club as a whole. The group noted that while several members also serve as Precinct Committee Persons and therefore participate in Central Committee activities, their personal actions do not reflect the official position of the Josephine County Republican Women.
Jennifer Green, President of the Josephine County Republican Women, reaffirmed the purpose and mission of the organization. She said, “Our mission has always been to foster loyalty to the Republican Party at all levels of government and to promote the principles and values that unite us as Republicans. We remain focused on education, community involvement, and encouraging participation in civic life, not internal party disputes.” Green’s statement underscored a consistent theme within the group: that its role is to support the broader Republican platform rather than engage in intra-party disagreements.
The organization pointed to its bylaws as a foundation for this position. The bylaws state that the Club and members of its Executive Committee are prohibited from publicly endorsing any candidate for public office during contested Republican primaries, runoff elections, or special elections, as well as in nonpartisan elections when more than one Republican is competing. This prohibition serves to maintain the impartiality of the organization during critical electoral periods and prevents the appearance of favoritism or internal division.
The bylaws also address the activities of individual members, making clear that they are free to personally endorse or assist candidates in contested primary races. However, they are not permitted to do so in the name of the Club or by using its logo or materials. This restriction applies equally to Club officers, including those who may be candidates themselves or who have family members running for office. Officers may campaign in a personal capacity but must avoid invoking the organization’s name in any campaign activities.
Green reiterated the group’s aim to remain a welcoming space for all Republican women who value integrity, community service, and positive civic engagement. She added that the Club’s work will continue to center on educational programs, voter participation, and community outreach rather than engagement in party disputes.
