At the last commissioners meeting, the board yet again had technical difficulties and couldn’t broadcast the meeting. This has happened quite a few times in the last year, and I wonder why. After all, the IT budget was increased by around $800,000 last year, yet they can’t record a meeting? Either IT Director Michael Sellers is impressively inept, or there is something nefarious happening. Would the Director of IT (whom Andreas Blech tried secretly awarding a $388,000 compensation package) purposefully obscure transparency? I don’t want to impugn anyone; however, maybe they were trying to obscure the fact that they were firing Public Works Director Rob Brandes, a respected 30-year employee, without cause. The controversial termination wasn’t included in the meeting notice, and the sound conveniently cut out. This seems suspicious to me. Maybe the unelected commissioner who refuses to list his bio on the county website or post his picture with his fellow commissioners in the board hallway or in the Anne Basker Auditorium is hiding things.
