Rogue Community College (RCC) has announced the addition of new free parking spaces for students and employees at its Riverside Campus, located in downtown Medford. This expansion is part of RCC’s collaboration with the City of Medford to address the ongoing parking shortages that have long frustrated the campus community.
Parking availability has been a significant challenge for students and staff at RCC’s Riverside Campus, with many relying on short-term metered parking or paying for spaces, creating stress and logistical hurdles. Unlike RCC’s other campuses, which have ample free parking, Riverside’s urban location has left many scrambling for options.
RCC President Randy Weber expressed optimism about the new arrangement, stating, “This new parking solution is a significant step forward for our Riverside Campus. By alleviating the parking burden, we’re creating a more accessible and supportive environment for our students and staff, which directly contributes to their success.”
The new parking lot, located at Bear Creek South/Almond Street, is the result of a long-term partnership between RCC and the City of Medford. The arrangement will provide approximately 50 additional parking spaces for RCC students and employees, free of charge with an approved parking permit. The lot will be available starting Monday, Sept. 30, on a first-come, first-served basis. It also includes enhanced lighting to ensure safety, and campus security will offer escorts between the lot and the campus as needed.
By improving parking options, RCC aims to reduce both the financial burden and the time pressures faced by students and staff, allowing them to spend more time on campus and focus on their academic and professional goals.
