Established in 1973 on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon, Sundance Kayak School was created with a singular mission: to teach whitewater kayaking. Our goal is clear: to be the nation’s premier kayak school by offering the most comprehensive introductory whitewater river kayaking instruction, continuously improving our teaching methods, maintaining professionalism in all aspects of our operations both on and off the water, and ensuring that our students have a lot of fun.
Our basic programs are tailored for individuals who have never been in a whitewater kayak. Over the years, our name has become synonymous with quality kayak instruction. Our Riverhouse, the historic Sundance Lodge, is located right on the banks of the Rogue River. It is the last private property on the river before it enters the Wild and Scenic Rogue Wilderness. The lodge is surrounded by thousands of acres of protected wilderness lands, which include the diverse Rogue River ecosystem, watersheds, and wildlife.
The secluded accommodations at the lodge feature a large deck overlooking the river, where it is common to see bald eagles, ospreys, and great blue herons. Otters occasionally scamper along the shore, and deer often stroll across the green lawn. The small rapid in front of the lodge adds a gentle melody to the ambiance that defines the Sundance Lodge experience.
